My battles started physically and spiritually when I became a star - Veteran actor Akin Lewis

As veteran actor, Akin Lewis clocks 50 on stage and screen, he has recalled how intriguing and tortuous the journey has been for him.

According to him, he has faced many enemies although the profession has also earned him friends.

Lewis, in an IG post on Tuesday, said he had had to face many physical and spiritual battles since he became a star.

The man Lewis

Akin Lewis was born on the 7th of April, 1957, in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State. He, however, grew up in Lagos State, where he had both his primary and secondary education. He later studied at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (then University of Ife) and the University of Sophia, Bulgaria, where he earned an M.Sc. in dramatic Arts.

While Lewis then joined a drama company founded by Nigerian writer and dramatist, Professor Bode Sowande in 1973, the same year he started his acting career, he first gained attention when he played the title character in the comedy sitcom Why Worry on NTA Ibadan in 1980.

As Manuniya notes online, he reached massive fame and recognition in 2005 following his role in Tade Ogidan‘s film Madam Dearest.
