Although former Presidents Yakubu Gowon and Goodluck Jonathan attended the inauguration of President Bola Tinubu, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was conspicuously absent.
So also was former Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, who is in the same All Progressives Congress as Tinubu.
Obasanjo had supported the Labour Party’s candidate, Peter Obi, to the extent that he asked the immediate past President, Muhammadu Buhari, to stop the election when it had become obvious that Tinubu was winning.
Amaechi competed against Tinubu in the primaries, coming second.
He never showed up for the latter during campaign.
He was, on Monday, sighted at the inauguration of Labour Party’s Alex Otti as the Governor of Abia State at the Umuahia Township Stadium.
His predecessors like Muhammadu Buhari and Goodluck Jonathan witnessed the historic occasion in person.
Similarly, at the venue of the inauguration ground were dignitaries including: President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Akinwumi Adesina as well as billionaires such as: Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola, Abdulsamad Rabiu and Jim Ovia.
However, Amaechi, a two-term member of the Buhari’s administration was not in attendance. Amaechi was instead pictured at the Umuahia Township Stadium in Abia alongside guests like: Theodore Orji, Enyinnaya Abaribe, Julius Abure, Datti Baba-Ahmed, amongst other dignitaries.
