Fans of movie queen, Kabirah Kafidipe, aka Araparegangan, who may have been missing her on screen can now heave a sigh of relief.
The reason is that she is set to release another feature film
The actress is also an Islamic evangelist will on April 24 premiere “HE PROMISED US GIFT” (ORĘ ÀTÀTÀ). The film is coming in collaboration with Prudent Media, powered by other leading propagators of Islam, including a former Commissioner of Home Affairs in Lagos State, Dr Abdullateef Abdulhakeem.
While Abdulhakeem is the Executive Producer, Kafidipe – popularly called Araparegangan, based on the role she played in Tunde Kelani’s classic, ‘Saworo Ide’ – is the producer. Bolaji Sulaiman directed ‘HE PROMISED US GIFTS’, alongside Kabirah.
In the two-hour movie, AbdulRaheem, a dynamic and aspiring young man who comes from a socio-economically struggling family, is faced with various challenges that test his faith, a trial he he could only overcome with tolerance, patience and spirituality. How Abdullateef navigates the life test harbours a lot of lessons for viewers, who are also bound to savour the intrigues and theatrics deployed by the veteran actors in action in the work.
While Dr Abdullateef Abdulhakeem inspired the story, the script was written by Kafidipe, with her sister, Aisha Kafidipe and another theatre great, Yinka Kareem, joining her in script development.
In the cast starring Kabirah herself are old-wines-are-tasty Thespians such as Adebayo Salami (aka Oga Bello), Kareem Adepoju (Baba Wande), Taiwo Hassan (Ogogo) and Afeez Abiodun. While it introduces Ibrahim Oluwarotimi, other members of the cast are Amina Adams, Abduulateef Abdulhakeem, Abdulganiy Adegbidin, Aisha Kafidipe and Hakrat Momodu.
Kabirah, as the producer is fondly called, has produced some acclaimed feature films – including IWALEWA, OGA AND BINTU – before she focused on Islamic evangelism. ‘HE PROMISED US GIFTS’ is her second Islamic movie, having earlier produced ‘A DATE WITH ASMAU’.
