The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has rejoiced with Muslims within Ilorin Emirate and beyond over the successful completion of the 2023 (1444AH) Ramadan fasting.
This is part of the emir’s end of Ramadan message, as contained in a statement issued on Thursday night by his spokesman, Malam Abdulazeez Arowona.
Sulu-Gambari confirmed that the Eid-il-Fitr prayers would hold on Friday, May 21, following consultation and confirmation from the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar.
“Following consultations, we concluded in the meeting held by members of the Ilorin Emirate Council and the Council of Ulamah that the 1444 AH month of Ramadan, has come to an end.
“There shall be Eid-il-Fitr prayers across the 16 local government areas of the state and beyond. Sallah celebration begins on Friday,” the emir said.
The traditional ruler said that Eid-il- Fitr prayer would hold at the Central Yidi Prayer Ground by 10 a.m. to be led by the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Dr. Muhammad Bashir Imam-Soliu.
Sulu-Gambari, who is also the Chairman of Kwara Council of Chiefs, prayed that Almighty Allah make the spiritual exercise a rewarding act, forgive shortcomings and accept the good deeds of the people.
He prayed that the Almighty Allah bless all Muslims with the most suitable place in the hereafter, after good lives well spent.
He thanked all the Islamic clerics for their fervent prayers, commitments and efforts throughout the fasting period, saying that it was in accordance with the Holy Quran and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The emir revealed that he would host Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq when they pay Sallah homage at his palace, immediately after the Eid-il-Fitr prayers.
He, however, appealed to the people of Ilorin Emirate to celebrate Sallah with utmost decorum and imbibe the culture of discipline, charity and forgiveness during and after the feasts.
He urged the youths to desist from any act that could truncate and pollute the peaceful atmosphere in the state, also to cooperate with security agents in discharging their constitutional duties diligently.
