Former Vice President of Nigeria and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is not relenting in his battle to reclaim the president-elect’s mandate which, he believes, he won in the February 25 poll.
The Independent Electoral Commission has declared Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress winner, having led others in the result announced.
Apart from the fact that Atiku is in court challenging the outcome, he, on Wednesday, met with former military president, Gen Ibrahim Babangida (rtd) and former military Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd) in Minna, Niger State.
While many would recall that, in spite of some of its key achievements, the Babangida government annulled the June 12 1993 watershed election, Salami handed power to the Obasanjo civilian government in 1999.
The meeting with the two leaders was held behind closed doors.
Paul Ibe, Media Adviser to Atiku Abubakar, however, said that the meeting was fruitful.
The Waziri of Adamawa was said to have returned to Yola after the meeting, ahead of the governorship and State Houses of Assembly election on Saturday.
