A major shake is going on in the Peoples Democratic Party as its National Working Committee has appointed Umar Damagum, to oversee its affairs in acting capacity.

National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Debo Ologunagba, announced this at a press conference on Tuesday, at the party’s secretariat.

Damagun will replace Iyorchia Ayu as the national chairman of the party.

Ayu had been under pressure by a section of the party’s leaders, especially the G5 led by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.

The group said he must go because he is a northerner like the PDP’s Democratic Party’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar. during the February 25 election.
