– Manchester City star Bernardo Silva has candidly revealed how he felt after Joao Cancelo’s sudden departure to defending Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

– Cancelo made a shock deadline day exit in the January window to sign on loan with Bayern, with the German club having a £62m option to make the move permanent.

– The 28-year-old Portuguese full-back initially arrived at City in 2019 after the reigning Premier League champions snapped him up from Juventus.

– Cancelo has been a crucial first-team player under City manager Pep Guardiola and lifted two Premier League titles and two League Cups during his time at the Etihad.

– However, it is believed that the Portugal defender had a falling out with Guardiola and was reportedly left frustrated with the City boss’ decisions.

– According to reports, Cancelo was not happy with his lack of first-team minutes since returning from international duty at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

– Speaking after City’s 1-0 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday, Silva revealed that he was happy for Cancelo after he completed his move to Bayern.

– The 28-year-old City star added that it was also sad for both his teammates and himself to see fellow Portugal teammate Cancelo leave in the window.

– “Happy for him, because it was the path he chose to continue happily in his life,” Silva told Eleven Sports.

– “Sad for the team and for me, because I won’t be able to count on him every day.

– “He knows that he is a person that I like a lot. But he made the best decision for him and I’m really happy for him.”

– Real Madrid were linked with a move for Cancelo, but the Portuguese defender made his decision to sign for Bayern instead of the La Liga club.

– Cancelo made his Bayern debut in the German club’s 4-0 demolition of Mainz in the last-16 German Cup clash, with the City loanee picking up an assist.

– The former Juventus and Valencia star followed up his German Cup debut by registering an assist in his Bundesliga debut against Wolfsburg on Sunday.
