The House Leader, Kwara House of Assembly, Abubakar Mogaji Olawoyin, is dead.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Mr Abdulquadr Yusuf, confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Ilorin.
NAN reports that Olawoyin was of the APC and represented Mogajin geri Constituency.

According to a Facebook account, Hon. Abubakar Mogaji Olawoyin was the leading Lawmaker in the 9th Kwara State House of Assembly in terms of legislative mandates.
In the first year, he sponsored five (5) motions that include: Adoption of House Rules; Need to Upgrade Abbatoirs in Our Communities; Need for Government to Regulate Advertisement, Sale, and Practice of Traditional Medicine in Kwara State; Need for Adequate Awareness Towards Mitigating the Risk of Sickle Cell Anaemia in Our Society; and Need to Implement the Kwara State Child’s Right Law.
In the second year, Hon. Olawoyin also sponsored five (5) different motions that include:
1. The Need to Curb Activities of Illegal Miners in Kwara State
2. The Need to Mitigate Fire Outbreaks During Dry Season
3. Admission of His Excellency, the Governor of Kwara State, and His Entourage into the Floor of the Assembly
4. Appointment of Some Principal Officers and Honorable Members to Usher in His Excellency, the Governor of Kwara State, into the Floor of the House
5. The Need to Reinvigorate Enforcement of the Observance of Safety Protocols Against Second Wave of COVID-19 Pandemic in Kwara State.
This means that out of the 32 Bills sponsored by lawmakers within 2 years in the 9th KWHA, Hon. Olawoyin alone accounted for (sponsored) ten (10).
Hon. Mogaji Olawoyin is also the only lawmaker that has sponsored a new bill in the 9th Kwara Assembly (Kwara State Sports Commission Bill), while other private member bills sponsored by other lawmakers were amendments of existing bills.
