Police in Cross River State have arrested a woman, Blessing Eno, for allegedly beheading her 11-month-old son.
They were said to have saved her from being lynched by residents angered by her action.
Irene Ugbo, police spokesperson, said the incident happened on Tuesday at Ugep in the Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State.
The circumstances surrounding the incident could not be immediately ascertained.

“Investigation is on to ascertain the reason for her action. But what we heard is that she is mentally deranged,” Ugbo said.
It was gathered that the police prevented a mob from lynching the woman by taking her into custody.
