Love or hate him, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has injected some life into the current electoral dispensation. Vocal, courageous, spontaneous and raw, he has in his own way bridged the gap of inspiring speeches that used to be part of electioneering dividends in Nigeria.

At least even if real democratic dividends would not come, top politicians used to offer fun when they mounted the podium, singing, while their band of singers and performers showed skills at and outside the campaign ground. Beautiful philosophical statements had dwindled as the quality of our politicians did, but Wike has been spicing the scene with entertaining jabs.

The real kudos may however go to his singers, the band who interjected his talks with cracking verses. The most popular of the tracks, for now, is, “As e dey sweet us/ I go dey pain dem’’ – or is it vice-versa?
On Wednesday, the lead vocalist added another interesting line when Wike was inaugurating his eighth flyover. He sang:
“If Wike touch you, hunger go g o
“If Wike touch you, hunger go goo.”
The question now is: when will Wike touch me? Honestly, I want him to do so so that I can experience the miracle.
