More sensation may be returning into American democracy as former President, Donald Trump, has declared his intention to re-run.
Trump officially launched a campaign for president in 2024, filing papers with the Federal Election Commission in which he declared himself a candidate for the presidency and established a new campaign committee.
Nigeria’s former Foreign Affairs, Professor Bolaji Akinyemi, has condemned the move, while carpeting Republicans for ever harbouring Trump and his alleged excesses.

“Trump is a man who believes in himself. To him, it does not matter what the majority of Americans want. Yet, some Republicans still support him. He went through the primary, and the support base is still there for him. It is a tragedy for congress that the Republicans are likely to win the House of Reps. The majority in the House of Reps are not just Republicans, they are Trumpists,” Akinyemi said on Arise Television on Wednesday.
Reports add that Trump is expected to give a speech later in the evening at his Florida private club, Mar-a-Lago.
“America’s comeback starts right now,” the 76-year-old former US President told hundreds of supporters gathered in an ornate American flag-draped ballroom at his palatial Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.
“The voting will be much different. Are you getting ready?” Trump said.
“This will not be my campaign. This will be our campaign all together,” he said to the cheering crowd.
