– “I’m obviously really happy,” Neville told reporters after the announcement. “I love working for this football club. I enjoy working for the people I work with, for the people I work for. And I think it’s not often in life that you get to find a location, find a job, find a city that you fall in love with and that you have a job that you get up every single morning, excited to go into work with great people.

– “And fortunately enough, luckily enough, I have that situation here in Miami. I work with great people. I work for great people and there’s an incredible amount of trust between everybody.”

– Neville was hired ahead of the 2021 campaign amid considerable doubts over his managerial experience — previously limited to a three-year spell as England Women’s boss — but he showed this season he can excel as a coach.
– Despite being weighed down by financial penalties due to violating MLS roster rules during its inaugural season in 2020, Neville led the Inter Miami to an unexpected run to the postseason, with seven wins and a draw in their final 12 games of the season.
– “I think [last season] we took a big jump and it wasn’t just in the position that we finished in the league,” Neville added. “That was obvious. That for me that was secondary. It was the way we played, the style of football, we played, the players that were out on that field, the feeling in the club and the culture that we feel as if we’re building.”
“We’re going to make sure that we have a roster that can compete from day one.”

– Miami Chief Soccer Officer Chris Henderson said: “We are excited to continue our partnership with Phil and build on the foundation put in place this year.
– “He has helped Inter Miami build a winning culture, and we feel our processes, collaboration and communication have begun to bear fruit. We are ready for the road ahead and are confident we are heading in the right direction.”
“We’re really proud of what we’re building in the Academy going through our Second Team.”

– In addition to his coaching spell with England Women, Neville has also held positions as an assistant coach with Valencia, Manchester United and the England Under-21s.
– He also enjoyed a 20-year playing career at United and Everton in which he won six Premier League titles, a Champions League and three FA Cups.
