Another son of the popular Adeleke family of Ede, Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has repeated history.

He has been sworn in as the Governor of the State of the Living Spring, decades after his brother, Isiaka Adeleke, aka Serubawon, left there.

He was sworn in on Sunday morning alongside his deputy, Kola Adewusi, ending the reign of arguably gentleman Adegboyega Adeleke, who lost the bid for second term.

With Adeleke’s ascension, he has proved that man can always rise above stereotype once he is determined.

With the artistic but largely derided pedigree, however, many believe Adeleke particularly has the added responsibility to make a mark.

Perhaps he has a fairly encouraging financial foundation to start from – not really because his brother, Deji (father of popular musician Davido) is a wealthy and supportive businessman – but because Oyetola has said he left N14bn in the government’s coffers.

He is also expected to be businesslike and think without the box, especially in a state where the biggest industry is ubiquitous civil service.

Oaths were administered on the governor and the deputy by the Osun State Chief Judge, Adepele Ojo, at a well attended event.

Adeleke came into the venue in a long convoy of vehicles at about 11:20am and completed taken his oath at about 11:50am.

Present in the main bowl of Osogbo City Stadium to witness the event were dignitaries that included the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate and his running mate, Atiku Abubakar and Ifeanyi Okowa respectively, the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki and Akwa Ibom State Governor, Emmanuel Udom.

Also present were, Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, Governor Duoye Diri of Bayelsa State, Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose and Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

Also at the venue were: Wife of the PDP presidential candidate, Titi Atiku, Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, and former Oyo governor, Chief Rashidi Ladoja, among others.
