– Manchester United have released a statement regarding Mason Greenwood being charged with attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault, stating the player ‘remains suspended by the club’.

– The Man Utd forward was originally arrested in January 2022 and has been suspended from the club’s first-team activities since then.

– In a statement released on their official website, the club noted the suspension: “Manchester United notes that criminal charges have been brought against Mason Greenwood by the Crown Prosecution Service.

– “He remains suspended by the club, pending the outcome of the judicial process.”

– The statement comes after Greenwood was charged on Saturday for the aforementioned offences, with the GMP confirming this and the fact that he will appear at magistrates’ court on Monday.

– “Greater Manchester Police has charged and remanded a 21-year-old man with controlling and coercive behaviour, attempted rape and Section 47 assault of a woman,” a statement read.

– “Mason Greenwood, of Bowdon will appear at Manchester & Salford Magistrates Court on Monday 17 October 2022.

– “He was arrested in the Trafford area earlier on Saturday 15 October.”
