Another Lagosian has died by suicide.
According to the Lagos State Police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, the death of the 37-year-old man reported at Akinpelu police division on Friday at about 6.05 p.m.
He explained that a distress call was received that the deceased allegedly hanged himself in his room located in Oshodi.
Hundeyin said that based on the report, police detectives were mobilised to the scene.
“On arrival, the team met the lifeless body dangling on a rope, tied to the ceiling fan, anchored in the room.
“The detectives photographed the scene and evacuated the corpse to IDH Morgue, Yaba, for autopsy, while investigation continues,” he said.
Suicide has been on the increase in Nigeria with Lagos having its own share.
Weeks ago, owner of a popular restaurant, The Hut, died in circumstances linked with suicide.
Also, there have been occasional self-drowning, with some folks jumping into the Lagoon, or attempting to do so.
Many have linked the incidents to deepneing economic woes in the country.
