BREAKING: Romeo Oriogun wins Nigeria Prize for Literature
A young Nigerian poet, Romeo Oriogun, has been declared winner of the 2022 edition of the Nigeria Prize for Literature.
With the feat, he is $100,000 richer, as annually presented by the founders of the prize, Nigeria LNG.
The poet won the diadem with his collection, NOMAD,
Other finalists were Sodiq Dzukogi and Sueddie Agema.
According to the judges, the collection has a fresh language and a nostalgic engagement with the themes of exile and displacement.
Chairman of the Literature Prize Board, Professor Akachi Ezeigbo, commended the Nigeria LNG for establishing, sustaining and raising the prize to a great height.
She noted that all the three books were well written, read and produced.
