Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has rejected a situation a lecturer plagiarises or outright converting the works of his or her student.
He warned against the act on Wednesday, while inaugurating another satellite campus of the Rivers State University in Emuoha.
He said, “We don’t want lecturers who will be copying or publishing what students have written. We want lecturers who are competent.”
This is as he warned students too against laziness and spiritual complacency.
They should study well, instead of just inviting God to do magic for them during exams, he noted.
On his commitment to the development of the sector, he said higher institutions in the state were not being given money for capital projects before he assumed office.
But he has since been developing such, according to him, recalling that, on Tuesday, he had inaugurated the Etche campus of the Rivers University.
He said another would be inaugurated on Thursday.
“We laid the foundation of this Emuoha campus in June last year. The job was completed in June this year. Today we are commissioning. If anybody goes to the main campus, you will be happy to be in it. It is about commitment, passion. The love you have for any assignment you are given,” he said.
