Afro beat singer, Seun Kuti, has sought to teach Nigerians the difference between voting and footballing.

He says while the latter is about playing and winning, voting is the expression of one’s conscience.

The implication, according to him, is that you have to vote your mind even if the candidate may not win.

Put differently, you don’t vote for the wrong person because the right one may not win.

The musician presented the argument while speaking on the chances of the African Action Congress’ presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore.

In an interview on ObjectTV media, he siad the AAC standard bearer was better than Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party.

“For me, Sowore is the best of the four candidates that are available.

Personally, I still think he is better than the three others if Nigerians say they want to press the reset button,”he said.

Kuti added,

“That they want to take the right step in the right direction.

Unfortunately, the same Nigerians will tell you Sowore can’t win as if election is football sport.

You are not playing to win; you are playing your conscience.

You are voting your belief.”
