A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Surulere, Lagos, on Frjday, ordered the remand of 40-year-old Sunday John for allegedly sodomising a 14-year-old boy.
The police charged John with sodomy.
Magistrate M. I. Dan-Oni, who did not take the plea of John, remanded him in Kirikiri correction centre pending legal advice from the office of the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Dan-Oni adjourned the matter until Oct. 12.
Earlier, Insp Courage Ekhueorohan, told the court that John committed the offence on Aug. 25, at Part Finder Jamb lesson, Brown Road Aguda, Surulere, Lagos.
He alleged that the suspect, who is a car detailer, lured the 14-year-old girl to a tutorial centre and sodomised her.
Ekhueorohan said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 261 and 263 (1) and (2) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015 (NAN)
NAN also reports that Section 261 prescribes life imprisonment for rape or sexual assault by penetration.
