Prof. Wahab Egbewole, the Vice Chancellor-designate, University of Ilorin, has given a hint of what will be the concern of his administration and how he will achieve such.
He pledged that his in-coming administration would be fair and just to all staffers and students.
This is contained in a statement signed by Mr Kunle Akogun, the university’s Director of Corporate Affairs on Sunday in Ilorin.
Egbewole said: “The University of Ilorin is greater than all of us and we want to extend our ‘hand of fellowship’ to all our colleagues who also applied for this post.
“We appeal that they should join hands with us to do this work collectively and in an all inclusive manner”.
The vice chancellor designate commended the University’s Governing Council for conducting a thorough and painstaking exercise that culminated in his appointment.
He assured the council and the university community that the appointment was for everyone and the administration would continue to put the institution first in all it does.
He, therefore, appealed to staffers and students for support, to enable him discharge the task ahead.
“Our students are our pride and we will continue to run a student-friendly regime, with emphasis on improved work ethics and zero tolerance for corruption in all its ramification.
“We give kudos to the workers of this great institution for their untiring efforts in ensuring that our system continues to run in spite of the challenges.
“We will continue to give premium to the training and re-training of the workforce, while the welfare of the workers will be given priority,” he said.
Egbewole called for more efforts at improving the quality of research, which would lead to innovation.
He implored the concerned members of staff to see the new administration as partners in progress with a view to ensuring enhanced capacity and improved delivery.
He commended the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sulyman Abdulkareem, and prayed for a peaceful transition to move the university to the next level.
