An Ikeja Special Offences Court on Monday sentenced the convicted kidnap kingpin, Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike, alias Evans and his accomplice, Victor Aduba to 21 years imprisonment to life imprisonment for kidnapping a businessman Slyvanus Ahamonou and collecting N$420,000 as ransom from his family.

Meanwhile, Evans and his accomplices, Messrs Amadi and Nwachukwu, were, in February found guilty of the two-count charge of conspiracy and kidnapping brought against them by Lagos State Government.

Judge Oshodi had said that none of the convicts showed any remorse during the trial.

“Despite the huge evidence stacked against them, they tried to lie their way out.

“In this respect, the first, second and fourth defendants are each hereby sentenced to life imprisonment. This is the sentence of the court,” he said.

Other defendants – Ms Uchechukwu and the two ex-soldiers – Messrs Ifeanyi and Aduba – were discharged and acquitted. The judge held that there was no evidence linking them to the crimes.
