There appears to be no deal with Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, on his demand for the removal or resignation of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu as far as the party’s National Executive Council is concerned.

All the members on Thursday passed a vote of confidence Ayu, suggesting that the party he will not be stepping down any time soon.

Wike and some other leaders want him to step down to pave the way for the emergence of someone from the South since the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, is from the North.

All the 397 members of the NEC present at the meeting voted in support of Ayu to continue as the chairman of the party.

The acting Board of Trustees Chairman and a former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara, had put it to a voice vote after the House Minority Leader moved a motion for members of the committee to continue to have him as the chairman of the party.
