Like the proverbial killer who does not want anyone to move a sword over his head, killer of Akwa Ibom job seeker Omoren, on Thursday attempted to escape after he was sentenced to death.
The young man, Uduak Akpan, was sentenced to death by hanging by the Akwa Ibom State High Court.
As ‘The Punch’ reports, he attempted to escape shortly after the sentence was announced by the trial judge, Justice Bassey Nkanang.
The convict was sentenced to death by hanging and life imprisonment in the two charge of murder and rape preferred against him.
However, the court discharged and acquitted his father, Frank Akpan and sister, Anwan Bassey (2nd and 3rd accused) who were standing trial for accessory after the fact to murder.
Uduak had lured Umoren with fake job, as he had done some other job seekers.
