Reports from the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress do not seem to be in the favour of the latter’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
A governor who is believed to be an asset for him, Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, is said to have met the APC’s candidate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in London.
A plan to win him over to the APC had alraedy been unfolding.
But the development is more surprising as two other PDP governors were said to be with them at the meeting: Governors Okezie Ikpeazu and Seyi Makinde of Abia and Oyo respectively.
According to a report by ‘The Vanguard’, a reliable source privy to the meeting said the gathering centred on the need for the Wike camp to support Tinubu’s presidential ambition.
The source said: “It is true that there was a meeting where Tinubu met with Wike, Makinde and Ikpeazu. The meeting was held on Monday night, it was not in France, it was in London.”
Observers believe that, should the three governors play ball for the APC, areas strategic for the Atiku’s victory would have been largely depleted.
