The Muslims Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) says llorin will host its upcoming 79th National Islamic Vacation Course.
A member of the National Board of Trustees of MSSN, Prof. Yusuf Badmus, revealed this during a courtesy visit to the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, at his palace on Wednesday.
Badmus, who is also the Chairman, Hijrah Organisation of Nigeria, said that the annual Islamic Vacation Course (IVC) had been slated for Dec. 22 to 28.
The week-long programme would attract students from primary to university levels, he said.
According to him, the activities include lectures, ta’alimat, classroom instructions, da’awah outreach, visitation, interactive forum, skills acquisitions and issuance of communique.
The official explained that the course aimed at improving Muslims skills acquisition, create interaction between Muslim youths and provide a platform wherein they would have access to participate in Da’awah activities.
“The National IVC is to be held in the two zones of MSSN; namely “A” zone, which comprised 19 Northern States and FCT, and “B” zone which has all the Southern states of Nigeria as its component.
“The total number of expected participants is 4,000 and it is aimed at training and inculcating the Islamic values in the Muslim students from the 19 northern wtates and FCT.
“In 2018, IVC was held in Sokoto, 2019 in Kano, 2021 in Taraba, except 2020 which was the COVID year and now 2022 in Ilorin, tagged “KWARA 2022,” he explained.
Badmus said that the budget for the event was N55,179,000 to host the participants and expressed optimism that with the blessings and support of MSSN fathers, the task would be accomplished by the grace of Allah.
He presented MSSN lined up programmes which, he said, was soul inspiring with modern educational pursuit, aimed to shape the lives of the children, empower them to combat the social menace bedeviling the society.
Responding, the Emir, who is also the hosting father, elder and mentor of the IVC, congratulated the guests on occasion of the flag off of the event.
He noted that the organisation is one of the oldest Islamic societies in history of da’awah activities in Nigeria, adding that it was established on April 30, 1954, and cut across Nigeria.
The first class traditional ruler, who is also the Chairman of Kwara Council of traditional rulers, said that the society has produced people of timber and calibre, including royal fathers, seasoned administrators, legal luminaries, Khadis, educationists, astute politicians and captains of industries.
Sulu-Gambari also appreciated the MSSN for their decision to hold the event in Kwara and prayed for its success.
On his part, Justice Idris Haruna, the Chairman of the committee, recalled that Ilorin once hosted IVC in 1964 at AbdulAzeez Attah Memorial College, Ilorin, saying that he participated in the course.
The chairman said that KWARA2022 IVC would be the second time the event would be held in Ilorin and was grateful to the Emir for making him the chairman of the committee.
Haruna noted that the traditional ruler has the habit of putting everything in the hands of Almighty Allah and he had imbibed principle, praying Almighty Allah to make the event a succes
