Kshim Shettima, the All Progressives Congress vice-presidential candidate, has broken silence on his dressing to the Nigerian Bar Association’s conference recently held in Lagos.

According to him, he deliberately wore it to mock his opponents.

His dressing, a suit many believe to be oversize, with an equally longish tie, all upon snickers, raised a lot of dust, with many opponents and other critics lampooning him.

They compare such with the suit wore by the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate Atiku Abubakar; and Labour Party’s Peter Obi’s simple corporate-native – and claim that Shettima got it wrong.

While he has since been releasing some photos in which he looks stylish, he, on Thursday issued a statement explaining the reason he was in sneakers in Lagos (sic):

“I was in Lagos for the NBA conference. It was held in Eko Hotels, it was largely funded by the Lagos State Government, the APC government of Lagos State. Subsequently, they moved to Eko Atlantic city, a product of an idea conceived by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“When I sent my recce team… One of the presidential candidates, his team held meetings for three consecutive nights to commit mischief.

“When I was told it was a hostile crowd. I’m a banker, trained by one of the best bankers in the world. I’m a Jim Ovia boy. I deliberately wore sneakers to the NBA to mock (sic) at them.”
