Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has said that, based on the achievements he has so far recorded, he would have turned the state into another Dubai if he had been governor at a time the Nigerian economy was rosier.
He expressed the wish on Thursday while commissioning a flyover in Port Harcourt.
The flyover is said to be the 12th he would build, which made him declare that he had dutifully served his people.
“If it was in the past when the economy was good, I would have turned this place into Dubai,” Wike noted.
He expressed the joy that the people had seen him in action, adding that it was the best campaign he could give his party.
Wike noted that he had done so well that, after leaving office, he would be able to move freely without soldiers escorting him.
He added, “Ask PDP in Rivers State what we have done for the people. This is our campaign. When people come to campaign, ask them what they have done. When I was in a Minister, I brought the Faculty of Law to the University of Port Harcourt. I am also the one who brought a medical school. Ask their own Minister. What did they bring? So, the point we are now is called ‘Operation show your report card.
“Within eight years we have done 12 flyovers. Who else has done it? I am happy because my people are happy. There is nobody that can touch me on the streets because I have done what people want. Even if they ask me to take soldiers I won’t take because I have nothing to fear.”
