– Paul Pogba’s participation at the upcoming 2022 World Cup in Qatar is in doubt, but France coach Didier Deschamps believes the midfielder will be fit in time.
– Having rejoined Juventus from Manchester United on a free transfer this summer, Pogba injured the meniscus in his right knee, which could see his calendar year ended.
– But in an interview with Le Parisien, Deschamps was clear in his belief that Pogba would take part in Qatar.

– “His participation at the World Cup is not up for question,” Deschamps asserted.
– Pogba opted against undergoing surgery on his knee, as that would have ruled him out for the winter tournament. Instead, he could return within five weeks and ahead of the November World Cup start date.
– “We’re talking about important players,” Deschamps said of Pogba and N’Golo Kante’s current situations. “They’re key, they’ve a lot of experience, they’re leaders.
– “It’s important for them to be there, but we can never be sure. This is why we need to make sure our young players are ready.
– “Of course I’m in contact with Paul, and at the moment his involvement at the World Cup is not in doubt.”
– There have long been rumours that former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is ready to succeed Deschamps on the bench for France.
– “I’ve always put France above me, the team are above everything else,” Deschamps said.
– “Today there isn’t a vacancy because I’m here. ??
– “After, everybody can say and do as they please and it won’t affect me.”
