Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has vowed to procure AK47s for the state’s relaunched Volunteer guards to protect the people.
He said Fulani terrorists were out to destroy Benue people, saying it was as a result of the fact that Benue forefathers stopped jihadist wars in 1804.
According to him, the invaders had been causing mayhem and displacing people in the state.
He said on Thursday that the Federal Government had failed to secure the country, adding that Benue had been among the worst hit.
He said the state government would get all necessary weapons for the guards, following what he called necessary protocols.
The Volunteer Guard are taking off with 200 personnel, with operational vehicles and other items.
The governor, however, warned them against unlawful acts, saying they were neither police nor army, under whom they should operate.
