A member of the House of Representatives, Ndidi Elumelu, has expressed the fear that even the House of Representatives is not immune to invasion by terrorists.
He expressed the fear during a deliberation by the lawmakers, as reported by ‘Channels Television’ on Tuesday..
They were discussing a matter he considered not very important in the context of the security threats that hang over Abuja and the nation at last – rumoured impeachment plan of the Speaker of the House of Eeps, Femi Gbajabiamila, over the Water Bill controversy.
Contributing to the deliberation, it was an agitated Elumelu who wondered whether that was what the lawmakers should dissipate energy upon, when, “As we speak, we don’t knw whether this place will be invaded.””
He believsd security matters should be the priority.
Abuja appears to be losing peace of mind following mounting threats and attacks by insurgents.
They had, weeks ago, attacked the Kuje Correctional Centre, freeing many criminals, including Boko Haram captives, and killing some people.
Terrorists also attacked the presidential guard on Sunday, while threats are spreading even to Kaduna and Lagos.
