Something is Really Happening

Something is really happening
When a bluebird begins
To drink from a river a mile away
Something is really happening
When a ram’s hunger begins to disappear
When the cassava is still a mile away in the field
Something is really happening,
Now that I have started to feel high
Sipping the ginger still a mile away in your homely hand.

THE Rain Asked after You
The rain asked after you
In a voice as soft as wool
When it came it stopped upon the roofs of my neighbours
But it eventually sought me out
Opened the main door
Before it opened the one to my very room
Then it removed my shirt
As it made its way into my aghast chest
The rain asked after you
When it found a hole within my chest
The rain asked after you
Asking and keeping asking:
Where is the said Queen that took your heart?
