– Liverpool have handed Fabio Carvalho the number 28 shirt at Anfield after officially unveiling him as their new signing on Sunday.

– Carvalho’s arrival on Merseyside has been a long time coming, as the Reds tried to sign him on the final day of the January transfer window.

– They were unable to complete a deal on that occasion, but six months later they have finally got their man, and Carvalho has expressed his delight at joining Jurgen Klopp’s side.

– ‘It’s just an amazing feeling to be here at one of the biggest clubs in the world, if not the biggest. So, I’m just happy to be here and I can’t wait to get started,’ Carvalho told Liverpool’s official website.

– ‘Once you hear that Liverpool are interested, there’s only one thought in your mind, which is to join them and try to be in and around the team. Hopefully I can achieve big things.

– ‘I spoke with everyone, and the manager, and it just felt so natural. When things become natural it’s just so much easier to make a decision.’

– Carvalho will wear the number 28 next term, having taken this shirt off Ben Davies, who has been given the number 24 jersey.

– The 19-year-old had a breakthrough campaign at Craven Cottage last term, scoring 10 goals and providing eight assists in the Championship, playing a key role in the team’s title triumph.

– He also found the net in the fourth round of the FA Cup against Manchester City in January.

– The Portugal Under-21 international will now hope to force his way into Klopp’s starting line-up in 2022-23 as Liverpool look to build on the cup double that they achieved last term.
