It is interesting imagining the new status of the acclaimed artiste, Davido, as far as Osun State politics is concerned. Indeed, he has become a force to reckon with nationally, based on the victory of his uncle, his paddy for stage and paddy for life Ademola Adeleke, with whom he fought tooth and nail to secure victory in the Osun State’s governorship election.
Just imagine Davido’s new status, at least in the next four years in Osun. Picture him freely entering and exiting the Government’s House, enjoying the salute of everyone including security personnel. Who will ask Davido the person he is looking for in Abere? Who will ask him his mission before opening the gate wide for him? At any event he chooses to attend, whoever will ask for his invitation card? Or if he tells his uncle that he wants to perform at any state function, will the latter has any cause to say NO?
The beauty of this exaggeration is that the artiste deserves every leverage he gets from his uncle’s victory based on how he was committed to the cause. Davido went not just all the way but even out of his way as an entertainer and a businessman who ought not to be too partial to any segment of society. He deployed his talent, network and probably money to push his uncle, fighting whoever stood in his way – including the other politician member of his family. Now, victor – sweet victory – has come as Ademola Adeleke has been declared winner.
