– Luis Suarez has announced that he has signed a pre-agreement to join Uruguayan giants Club Nacional de Football this summer.

– The 35-year-old forward started his professional career at Nacional way back in 2005, making 34 appearances and scoring 12 goals for the club before moving to Dutch side FC Groningen.

– Suarez would go on to spend trophy-laden years at Ajax, Liverpool, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid – winning seven league titles and the UEFA Champions League – before his final contract at a European club (Atleti) expired at the end of the 2021/22 season.

– The Uruguayan announced his return to Nacional and South American football on Twitter, saying:

– “I’ve now reached a pre-agreement in order to join Nacional, it was impossible for me to say to this opportunity.

– “I hope final details will be resolved soon in order to complete the deal officially.”

– The forward is set to join the most successful club in Uruguayan football history, with club having won a remarkable 48 league titles and three Copa Libertadores. Last season, Nacional finished second in the Primera Division, but are currently top of Group B this season after seven games.
