Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has compared the killings that took place in St Francis Catholic Church, Owo, on Sunday, to what occasionally happens in the United States of America.
According to him, what happens in the US is less terrible than what was unleashed on the church.
Speaking to Owo residents on Sunday evening, he said he was terribly sad that the attackers had had their way.
He wondered how they were able to penetrate the area but assured people that his government and the security agencies would get them.
Switching from English to Owo dialect, Akeredolu gave the indication that his government knows the area of the state the gunmen hide, referring to some rocky areas.
He uurged the people not to retaliate, saying the killers would not escape.
In a video by ‘NigerDelta Connect”, some of the residents can be heard urging Akeredolu to act on time, saying the would therwise they result to self-help.
In an earlier video, a resident said he saw up to 50 bodies on the floor of the church.
