Former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, has sued the Nigerian Immigrations and the National Identity Management Agency over his travail in the United Kingdom.
He is on trial for alleged organ harvest ion with respect to a young Nigerian, David Ukpo, whom he took to London to donate kidney for his ailing daughter.
Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice, are being held after Ukpo claimed he is 15 – meaning he is allegedly underage.
He wants the agencies to produce the documents Ukpo submitted as he wants to prove that the proposed donor is older than the age he claimed.
Speaking on the development on Tuesday, seasoned legal; practitioner, Monday Ubani, said Ekweremadu must have taken the decision based on the fact that he needed all available evidence against his upcoming court appearance.
He said while speaking on TVC News on Tuesday, “If you are saying the young man gave consent, you have to prove it because you can’t donate the vital organ if you are not of age. May be the agencies refused to provide the documents upon request.
He added that the alleged donor might have given some vital information apart from age.
“The man needs all available evidence. He is appearing in court next week,” he said.
