Worshippers at the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), Ikotun, Lagos, on Sunday prayed for God’s direction on the leadership of the church.
Some observers have expressed the fear that even if Evelyn, widow of the church’s founder, Temitope Balogun (TB) Joshua, has the administrative skills to lead, she may not command his spiritual impetus to do so.
The intense prayer was made at a church service to mark the one year anniversary of the demise of Joshua, known as TB Joshua, Founder of the church.
The prayer, conducted by the church’s spiritual leaders with support of the congregation, was to rededicate Pastor Evelyn Joshua, now President of SCOAN, for divine anointing to enable her effectively lead the church.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos reports that the prayer was made after the widow made her first public appearance and speech a year after the exit of her husband.
Joshua affirmed her leadership status in the church and requested for the prayer for God’s grace to lead the church right without rancor.
Bishop Trevor Williamson and Bishop Steven Ogedengbe coordinated the prayer session.
They presented Joshua before God and asked God to grant her discerning mind to do exploits for him.
The congregation also stretched hands toward the new church leader and agreed with the proclamations by the presiding pastors
Speaking, Williamson said :”The job of shepherding people requires divine anointing.
“The leadership of Evelyn Joshua is already in for greater works ahead.
‘God will continue to show grace to the leadership and members of the church,” he said.
