The Police on Tuesday, arraigned a 37-year-old Woman, Aina’u Abdullahi, in a Kano Sharia Court for allegedly assaulting a pregnant woman.
Abdullahi, who lives at Fagge Quarters, Kano, is facing a count charge of criminal assault.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Abdul Wada, told the court that one Fatima Aminu of Dorayi Quarters in Gwale Local Government Area reported the matter at Fagge Police Station on May 6.
The prosecutor said that the complainant alleged that on the same day at about 02:00p.m the defendant went to Aminu’s (the complainant) father’s house at Fagge Quarters along with one Malam for Sallah celebrations.
The prosecutor said that the visitors met the house locked with padlock.
The complainant alleged that the defendant went ahead and broke the padlock to gain access into the house.
He stated that the complainant reported that when she came to check who had access into the house without her knowledge, she met and confronted Abdullahi, who was her cousin.
He said that he held her neck and twisted it, thereby resulting into serious pain and was taken to the hospital.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 165 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded guilty to the charge.
The Judge, Ismai’l Muhammed-Ahmed, granted her bail with two reliable sureties, who must be her blood relations, and adjourned the matter until June. 6, for summary trail.
