Hussaina Zubair, the Lady Captain of Kaduna Golf Club, on Thursday said the club’s Ladies Section would be engaging children in a fun-filled golf clinic and mini-tournament on Friday.
Zubair told newsmen in Kaduna that the two events would be part of their activities to celebrate the 2022 edition of the Children’s Day.
“The golf clinic is for children between the ages of five and 18 years, while the mini-tournament will be in three categories of ages five to eight, nine to 13 and 14 to 18.
“We are organising the golf clinic and mini-tournament as part of efforts to introduce the children to the game of golf and to also provide them an opportunity to have fun during the celebration of their Day.
“Various prizes will be given to winners in these three categories of competition, as well as souvenirs for all the participants,” she said.
The lady captain also disclosed that there were other “fun activities” available for the children, such as horse-riding, face-painting, bouncing castle, board games, scrabble, among others.
She said the Kaduna State Deputy Governor, Hadiza Balarabe, as well as the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Samaila Nyam, were among dignitaries expected at the occasion.
Zubair added that the club had received support from some organisations, such as Micro manna, Nigerian Bottling Company and Nigerian Breweries, to run the programme.
The lady captain also said the club’s Ladies Section would be celebrating the International Women’s Golf Day on June 7.

“The celebration has the theme `Walk the course, learn the game’, and it is targeted at introducing women organisations to the game of golf.
“A number of women organisations have already been invited to participate in activities lined up for the celebration of the day at the club,” she said.
