A Nigerian journalist is in need of an urgent financial support.

He is Abubakar Alimi, who is down with kidney failure and needs money for transplant and continued dialysis.

Alimi is the publisher of ‘Kogi Express’.

One of his colleagues, Sheddy Ozoene, publisher of ‘People and Politics’ and a former editor of defunct ‘Sunday Diet’, on Thursday championed the crusade for the intervention.

Ozoene notes in a Facebook post:

HELP!!!
MY FRIEND IS DYING

Please help!. My friend, Abubakar Alimi is dying. The Publisher of Kogi Express, the leading community newspaper in Lokoja, Kogi State is down with kidney failure and requires a kidney transplant but he does not have the N10m required for the transplant.

For now he is undergoing dialysis every 48 hours at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital in Gwagwalada, where he is on admission. The dialysis is only possible because friends, colleagues and other public spirited individuals have been making contributions.

Of recent, his schedule for dialysis are no longer maintained because there’s no money to pay, hence this urgent appeal.

This is therefore to appeal to you for financial assistance for him to continue the dialysis and ultimately undergo the expensive but all-important kidney transplant.

Since the last appeal, many people have rallied to his aid and I want to use this medium, therefore, to appreciate their effort. I appreciate especially his kinsmen from Ejuku community of Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State for their concern.

God will bless you all richly.
