AMVCA’S honour for late artistes renews their essence
The Nigerian entertainment industry commands many great talents but the calibre and umber of those who are no more are also huge.
This is what the African Movie Viewers’ Choice Awards reminded the world on Saturday night when it honoured the entertainers who passed on recently.
These included fantastic actors, musicians and catalysts such as Babatunde Omidina (Baba Suwe), Sadiq Daba, Victor Olaotan, Sir Victor Uwaifo, Bolaji Rosiji Karibi Fubara and Biqlow.
The list is longer than AMVCA could probably explore as the earth also recently swallowed younger actors that include Chinedu Bernard and Dejo Tunfulu.
Besides, fuji lovers will recall that Iyanda Sawaba has also journeyed to the world beyond, just as juju singer Dayo Kujore is no more.

Of course, the Yoruba movie industry has also lost Tafa Oloyede, who died only about a year after his colleague under Oyin Adeyemi, Alabi Yelo, also heeded the ultimate call.
The list is longer and the wound is deeper.
But what AMVCA did on Saturday appeared to be a way of saying that the departed have gone but not forgotten, while also indicating that with their memories alive, ‘death, be not roud.’
