The Social Democratic Party (SDP) Candidate in the June 18 Governorship election in Ekiti State, former Gov. Segun Oni, has felicitated the Muslim faithful in the country on the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
The goodwill message is contained in a statement issued by the Director of Media and Publicity of his Campaign Organisation, Mr Jackson Adebayo, and made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti on Monday.
The governorship hopeful lauded the Islamic adherents for their “great perseverance” through the 30-day Ramadan period.
“I greet the Muslims for enduring the stress of the 30 days of fasting.
“I praise their endurance, patience and surrendering themselves to reading the Holy Quran and studying the good precepts of Prophet Mohammed.
“It is important that the lessons learnt during the period remain indelible in all hearts,” he stated.
He also admonished them to “put into practice all they learned during Ramadan, preach them to other people and condemn the ills in society, “so that our society can be a better and safer place to live”.
Oni added that given the people’s dedication and endurance during the fasting period, he was hopeful that the state would witness the redemption it craved for.
He further stated that Ekiti State needed a good government to free them from penury and “the retrogression occasioned by the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government”.
He stated, “I am the answer and solution that Ekiti people are looking for to make life meaningful to them.”
He, therefore, charged the people to come out en mass and use their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to reject the APC and vote for him.
The former governor promised them good governance as he did during his first term.
According to him, the realisation that the state has retrogressed since he left office made me to take the bull by the horn by coming out again.
“We observed that our people have become helpless in the hands of wicked pillagers, who have successively taken the reigns of governance.

“We thought it that if there is anything we can do to bring succour to the people and we fail to do that, God would not be happy with us.
“So, let us join hands and chase away our tormentors on June 18.
“And Ekiti people will never regret their action, once I am elected governor,” the statement quoted Oni to have said.
