The Coordinator of the Enugu State Boxing Talent, Ikechukwu Okoronkwo, said 80 boxers were discovered during the 2021 exercise that covered the 17 local government areas of the state.
Okoronkwo told newsmen in Enugu on Saturday that the boxers participated at the talent hunt grand finale that took place on Friday at the state sports council, Nkpokiti.
He said the boxers were discovered from the 17 in 2021 but the finals could not take place the same year due to some hitches.
According to him, 51 boxers have been rewarded with bags of rice, medals and cash, while the remaining 19 received their prizes.
Four best boxers selected by the officials during the event were rewarded with trophies, adding to their cash, medal, bag of rice as all the boxers received certificate of participation.
Okoronkwo gave the names of the four boxers with trophies as Esther Nnamani and Franklyna Udeh who are females, Zoe Okoronkwo and Victory Nnaji who are male.
He said the reward was a means of encouraging them for their endurance throught out the exercise and for making it to the final.
Okoronkwo, a one time Nigeria Boxing Champion, thanked the speaker of Enugu State House of Assembly, Mr Edward Ubosi, for his support to the the talent hunt.
He also appreciated Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for the opportunity of the enabling environment, which made it possible for him to embark on the exercise in the state.
Esther Nnamani, a boxer from Community Secondary School Mbu, in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area, said she felt excited for been part of the grand finale.
She thanked the organisers of the exercise and advised those who could not make it to the final not to be discouraged as tomorrow might be their turn.

Nnamani said she was beginning to love boxing and would likely continue if the government gives them more opportunity to make a carrieer out of it.
