72-year-old, 2 others arraigned for stealing 50 tricycles

The Police, on Thursday arraigned two men, Alimi Afeez, 24, and Segun Afolabi, 25, in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for alleged theft.

Afeez and Afolabi, whose residential addresses were not provided, were charged with conspiracy and theft.

The prosecutor, Insp Sikiru Ibrahim, told the court that the defendants allegedly committed the offences on April 3, at 8. 30 p.m.., at Omi Adio area, Ibadan.

Ibrahim alleged that the duo, and others still at large, stole one Bajaj motorcycle worth N350, 000 and one Tecno cell phone valued at N50, 000,, belonging to one Segun Lawal.

He said that the defendants on April 5, at 7: 05 p.m., at Challenge, Ibadan, also allegedly stole another Bajaj motorcycle worth N350, 000, property of one Taofeek Agboola.

According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene sections 516 and 390(10A) of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.

Both men, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, S. A. Adesina, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200, 000 each, and one surety each in like sum.

Adesina said the sureties must be blood relatives to the defendants..

The magistrate then adjourned the case until July 20, for further hearing.
