Sweden’s pandemic law has expired as of Friday, meaning the Government no longer has the power to impose a range of legally binding restrictions to contain the spread of COVID-19.
Going forward, there are no requirements related to contact tracing or self-isolation, and COVID-19 is no longer classified as a threat to public health.
The vast majority of Sweden’s COVID-19 restrictions have already been lifted on Feb. 9, 2022.

The Government and health authorities justified the move on the grounds that the country had a high vaccination rate and that infections with the Omicron variant generally resulted in milder cases.
The Swedish public health agency, Folkhälsomyndigheten, said those who were ill with COVID-19 should still stay home.
