Legendary actor and producer, Lere Paimo, has said that the discrimination he is suffering in the Yoruba film industry has had no negative impact on him.
According to him, when some rebels established an association, they blacklisted him by not giving him for roles again.
Followers of the industry would believe he is referring to the Theatre and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria, which broke off the Association of Theatre Practitioners Association of Nigeria, after it was riddled with crises for years.
With Dele Odule as the founding President, TAMPAN is currently being led by Bolaji Amusan, aka Baba Latin.
Based on the role it feels the veteran popularly called Eda Onile Ola and some other people were playing in the issue and perhaps their disposition to TAMPAN, it is believed to have ostricised him.
Speaking in an interview with BBC Yoruba
According to him, he has continued to live well, while he is playing roles expected om his children.
He also warned that time will always judge, while also admonishing younger practitioners to sustain the moral codes that define Yoruba drama.
He particularly berates nude tendencies, saying the likes of Hubert Ogunde and Duro Ladipo did not indulge in such a tendency, yet did well even financially.
