A 38-year-old man, Nasiru Wadata, was on Thursday docked in a Kano Sharia Court for allegedly cheating a butcher of N30,000.

The police charged Wadata, who lives in Dandishe Quarters Kano State with criminal breach of trust and cheating.

The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Abdullahi Wada, told the court that Muhammed Sunusi, the complainant, reported the matter at the Fagge Police Station, Kano, on April 19.

Wada said that the defendant collected meat worth N30,000 from the complainant with promise to sale an return the profit.

He noted that the complainant later discovered that the defendant sold the meat and refused to return the profit as promised.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 202 of the Penal Code.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Judge, Dr Bello Khalid, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N20,000 with one reliable surety.

Khalid adjourned the matter until May 16 for mention.
