Sha’ayau S-Pawa Charity Foundation, has commended former Zamfara governor, Abdul’aziz Yari, for providing succour to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and other less privileged in 2022 Ramadan Welfare Package.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the former Gov. Yari, on Thursday, flagged off distribution of 172 trucks of assorted food items to his supporters and the less privileged ahead of the 2022 Ramadan fast.
Yari, represented by Sen. Kabiru Marafa, said the items comprised 50 bags of rice, 50 bags of maize, 50 bags of millet and 22 bags of sugar.
“The beneficiaries comprise orphans, widows, people with special needs, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and others.
The Chairman of the Foundation, Alhaji Sha’ayau Sarkinfawa, told NAN that the gesture was timely, especially considering the social and economic hardship faced by the IDPs especially women and children.
“I believe the gesture provided by the former governor will give succour in the face of the current inflation in prices of food items,” he said.
Sarkinfawa urged well-meaning individuals to emulate the former Gov in assisting the needy.
He appreciate the former Gov for involving a popular state-based Civil Society Organization, Zamfara-Circle, for sharing the food items to the IDPs.
He said the measure will ensure transparency and accountability for extending the gesture to the beneficiaries.
“As we all know, poverty has no political or religious boundary, therefore irrespective of our political or religious affiliations, we should give charity to our brothers, sisters and children, especially during the holy months of Ramadan,” he said.

The foundation Chairman urged people to use the Ramadan period to pray for Allah’s intervention to provide solutions to the security challenges facing the state and country in general.
