UK armed forces minister, James Heappey, on Thursday said UK was looking at “practicality and feasibility” of providing Ukraine with anti-aircraft weapons capable of shooting down Russian planes on night combat missions.

Heappey told Sky News broadcaster “the next step is to provide the Ukrainians with an anti-aircraft capability that works at night.’’

He claimed that the Russians are flying their combat missions at night to avoid the Stinger missiles provided by several countries after Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine on Feb. 24.

On Wednesday, UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace told Parliament that the government was considering sending the UK-manufactured Starstreak high-velocity manned portable anti-air missiles to Ukraine, following a request from Kiev.
