All is now set for Storyfest a Slam Poetry Competition organised by the Thespian Family Theatre and Productions.
The event will hold on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at the production outfit’s performance centre – Kona Hub at 1 Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa Lane, Freedom Way, Lekki, Lagos.
According to the founder and Director of Thespian Family Theatre and Production, Mrs Ayo Jaiyesinmi, winners of the competition will go home with monetary prizes.
The first prize gets N100,000 while the second and third get N50,000 and N20,000 respectively.
Thespian is synonymous with the production of live thearea and has, over the years, staged several dramas, including those written by the founder.
Among such are Itan and The Five Maids of Fadaka.
Only about three months ago, Thespian staged Bode Sowande’s Mammy Water’s Wedding, in conjunction with environment=protecting Go Forte Foundation.
The performance company is, however, versatile as it showcases works in other genres, all entertaining, educative and empowering.
The Saturday’s poetry slam is expected to enrich the spoken word/poetry performance culture, which is steadily gaining ground in Nigeria.
